We shot a couple huns SE of Senaca (my 1st that I ever saw). I sure would like to get into some more. Where are there huntable concentrations of them in that area and what kind of habitat is best?

We satyed at the Gettysburg Inn. It was reasonably priced, had a minimal continental breakfast and was centrally located for the area we hunted. We had our best luck east and south of Gettysburg. We hunted all public lands. The best plots were hunted hard.

Down here in Louisiana, I see 10 years of excellent woodcock hunting and 10 bad years of bad woodcock hunting. Thru the mid 70s to mid 80s, we did good, but to the mid 90s sucked. From about 97 - 06 was good but we have struggled since then. This season so far, I have not even seen a bird. One...

Hunted 5 days out of Gettysburg. Arrived to hunt in 5 inches of snow. It had all but melted by the end of our trip. We had 3 guns, a 4yr. old GSP and a 1 1/2 yr. old Llewellin. Between the 2 dogs, we had more solid points than my previous 5 years of phez hunting. We killed 11 phez and 2 huns...

What can we expect the birds to do with this 1st snow? We also have our duck stamp. Are they still there? are the ponds and potholes all frozen over?

We are due to arrive in Gettysburg midday Sunday. How bad is the snow going to be? How long does it take the county to clear all the backroads?

So, what do ya'll prefer to shoot? I started out with 12 gauge, steel, 2 3/4" 4s but I felt it was not getting the job done. I moved up to 2s and began dropping them.

Any good places to eat in Gettyusburg?

How are the roads holding up in the gettysburg/aberdeen area. Will I have problems with only 2 wheel drive under present conditions?

Get a Hunting Atlas. It will show you all the public land available. There is plenty. Waterfowl is a lottery hunt. Deadline was back in June. This November will be my 2nd trip to S.D. Last time was back in 2005. I got picked for the waterfowl lottery. We are just going to put miles on the truck...

Has Indian land historically produced more phez?

Our group of 5 got picked. We are staying in Gettysburg for the Thanksgiving week. We have never hunted this area. How do ya'll rate our duck/phez chances on public land in that area?
