Got out yesterday for a quick weekend hunt. Started south of Osborne about 1:30 and ended the day with only one rooster, and one jumbo covey of quail seen. Hunted around Hill City today until about 2:30 when there were 30 mph winds and it was 56 degrees. Four hens seen all day... never even...

I actually remember hunting the day after this ice storm up there, if it was 10 or so years ago! Utility poles sheared in half... and crops were cut a lot higher back then. So. Much. Ice. I was an idiot for hunting up there that weekend, but if I remember correctly we did pretty good :)

As a Kansan that has been hunting Iowa early the past several years, I'm thinking about hunting OK this year. They launched their own 'WIHA' program this year... might be a good time for quail in December.

Hello Iowans, Was thinking about heading up that way tomorrow for a few days. The NWS is calling for quite a bit of rain. What are the area forecasts saying? Is it supposed to dump all at once, or rain all day? Probably be poking around Spencer maybe, haven't really made up my mind yet.
