How is the corn harvest coming along in SE SD? I was out there about 3 weeks ago and it was extremely wet and 85% of the corn was still in. They were trying as much as possible get off what they could. Anyone been out that way to provide an update?

How wet has it been in NE SD this year? I know that there were early season rains but wondering if there are a lot of areas that are holding water again? I've hunted north east of Aberdeen for over 25 years and each year is a crap shoot from heat to blizzards come early November.

Does anyone have any experience with a Pudelpointer breeder in Georgia named Foothill Kennels? Interested in a puppy and the parents on paper seem solid. Anyone here worked with this kennel?

I do see a lot. For as dry as it was and the amount of fields left unplanted it seems strange. Disappointed that there are so many cut, but as dry as it was I get the need for hay.

Hunted there several times in past years, and speaking with others, last year it was VERY wet as you stated. Likely heavily affected nesting. Odd behavior from the birds recently. A lot of birds getting up out of the cattails with 4-6 inches of water. Birds are also sitting really tight in the wet areas. One things for sure, the 12pm start and standing corn makes it difficult to get birds before sunset.

I love this proposal! Too bad we couldn't see something like this in the next farm bill.

I haven't made it back recently, but how dry is the Aberdeen area? I hear just West of there is the hardest hit area. I am wondering if this dry weather will not only impact the pheasants, but bring back the disease (EHD) that hurt the deer heard last year due to the dry time last summer.

That's awesome news to hear! I am hoping with the early Spring we perhaps had some broods started earlier than normal as well to beat the dryer portion of this year. What is the approximate part of the state did you visit to see the bugs?
