Just got back from a great trip to Nebraska. Was able to tag up with KSBrittman and hunt a few days, I stole the title from him.....It was great to have Bella and her younger sister hunt once again, hopefully not the last time. Every place we hunted we moved birds, some not the right sex but the dogs had good bird contacts and handled them very well. We moved several covey's quail and they kicked my arse as far as shooting as did the pheasants one day, missed 4 layups! The last as a great point by Remi and i could see the roosters tail sticking out of the grass bunch and i blew both shots. Got a new gopro for Christmas and will post supporting videos or stills from our trip. Didn't take any tailgate photos as you all know what pheasant and quail look like as well as our dogs. Thought I would show the points or vids the lead to the bagged or missed birds. Was going to meet up with MrBen, but bad weather in Michigan delayed his trip west, maybe we will tag up in Michigan grouse woods. Weather was great almost to good and the company was fantastic. My only day of few bird contacts was my first, however, this day is more of a memorial to friends who are no longer with us and I hunt the areas we once hunted, it is a way for me to reconnect with them and maybe add to the memories we once shared together when I lived and worked with them in Nebraska.

I love hunting Nebraska because of past memories as well as the potential for a diverse hunt as the areas i hunt have potential to hold quail, pheasant and chickens. It is fun to try and guess what will flush out of the cover. I truly love to hunt quail and that is one of the biggest reasons i return to Nebraska. It also affords me the opportunity to tag up with KSBrittman for a hunt.

Sounds like a great trip. I too love hunting Nebraska! I have a lifetime license and spend as much time there as possible.

Great report. I haven't hunted as long as you, but there are spots that I love to hunt for the memories of years past. I really want to get to nebraska someday.

I have my lifetime as well, so I try to get back as much as possible.

Miforester, that’s cool you have a lifetime license as well. My mom bought mine for me as a graduation gift from UNL in 1988. It was $200 at that time. I have not live in NE since then, but get back to hunt 5-6 times a year. Best gift ever!

Yeah I bought mine before I moved to Michigan in 95, it wasn't much over 200, best investment I've made...lol

Glad you had a good hunt.. sitting at the world’s largest truck stop right now on my way back to Nebraska..sorry I couldn’t meet up but I don’t have a job anymore so I can play the weather. I’m going on to Arizona from there. Be a 6 week quail hunt with some 4 wheeling and sightseeing mixed in. It was 5 below last time I stayed the night here. Looking at 35 or so tonight.

Tom , I had a great time hunting with you , and the Girls, Like Toms post said , we wore out some boot leather to get out birds .

Appreciate you doing much of the navigating and spot selection.

My first day of the trip fortunate to shoot a limit of roosters , the temps stayed in the teens and got to high 20’s or low 30’s so the birds where in heavier cover and easier to predict their location.

Appreciate the invite Tom

Told my son this will be our December hunt, you have an open invite Mike. Always enjoy our time together as well as seeing Ginger and Poppy. Looking forward to hunting with "all legs Maggie"!
