Champ, my new vizsla

Champ flew in from Texas today with his breeder. She drove up with her friend who lives in VA to deliver Champ to our house. He is doing great and Nittany and Blitz are getting along well with him. There have been no issues and Champ is very outgoing. He sure is a cute little guy!

Wow... just think of the possibilities and what the future will bring. Good luck with him, and he has a couple of big role models in Nittany and Blitz.
The breeder must really care for her pups if she went through all that trouble to make sure he arrived safe, that speaks volumes about her.

Thanks for the comments.

The breeder really did a good job with the litter. The breeder she got her dogs from is the one who picked her up at the airport and drove Champ to our house. They really care about the breed and dogs.

I do keep all three dogs in the house along with our two boys who are 8 and 6. I must be crazy! But it should be fun and exciting.

So how is Champ doing? Are you crate training him? Did he cry much the first night?

Champ is doing great. He is playing well with Nittany, Blitz, Connor and Carson. He did great sleeping the first night with no crying. He woke up at 3:00 AM and I took him out to go to the bathroom. Same thing at 6:00 this morning. He's been going to the back door when he needs to go to the bathroom, so house breaking is on the right track. We took him to PetSmart and PetCo today just to get him out. He does fine riding in the car and is working on getting used to the leash. He was quite popular at both stores.

We are crate training him. He tends to bark for a while but then settles down. I won't let him out until he's quiet.

He'll be getting quite an introduction to snow this week! It will be quite a change from the Texas weather he was used to.

Thanks for asking.

That's pretty first-class delivery service by the breeder.

Your house will always be a home with the human and canine play.

Sounds nice. Best wishes.

Great looking dog. I guess you and I are in the same boat, the mad dash outside at 2 in the morn. with our PJs and slippers on trudging through the slush jumping up and down congratulating the little guy for peeing outside. AAHH puppy life, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes, we are in the same boat. Last night was better and Champ didn't need to go out until 5:30 AM.

PADave, how's your pup doing?

He's doing great, the best description I have for him is pac man with needle teeth. As soon as I get a photo account I'll post some pics.
As of Saturday we've had him for a week. He and the younger lab are best friends now, and just recently the old man lab is starting to tolerate him.

Ok... by now I thought we would have seen more pictures of Champ! :D

And Dave, any pictures yet?

It has been a busy week with practices for the boys, a PF meeting and a vet appointment to go along with everything else. Champ is doing well and likes to give Blitz a run for his money. He tries to play with Nittany but he's not as interested. Champ is learning to come when called and to walk on the leash. House breaking is a little tougher with him compared to our other dogs but I think the weather has something to do with that. Overall, he is doing great and sleeps pretty good at night. Here are a few pictures from this week.
