Snow Hunts are the Best

What a perfect storm. Waterways weeds and a 6" snow on top. Kept the birds sitting tight. 5 man limit in about an hour and a half. I was in heavan watching the dogs work.

When it gets deep and crunchy it sure becomes a bear to get through. A couple inches of fresh powder, however, can’t be beat!

That was about 6" of powder Saturday Morning. 2" from this hint they ran a bit.

2 inches of fresh powder is perfect, and quiet. I was battling through two foot drifts to get into The cattails and then The cattails were really snowed in but not not outrageously bad but it was hard to walk in there and then, the fields were blown pretty clear so the feathers could get Chow.

South Dakota is pretty flat, there aren't that many trees, so when they get a foot or two of snow it all blows into the cattails and the trees the tree belts.

Parts of South Dakota I think got a big snow dump two weeks ago or so. It was probably a 2 ft dump.
