41, overcast, light wind..,3 of us…I’m going a bit low key, taking my 10.5 year old mostly, who has a bum shoulder and I’m being good or bad as a dog owner, depending on perspective…she is on rimadyl and got Librela injection a week ago…she wants to be out here so bad! I took it easy on her. Here are the birds I shot today with red label
28 gauge…one is a cripple my buddy shot that my red lab picked up…fun retrieve to watch, though much was beyond view, she was in a CRP field west of me a few hundred yards…came back with it. So, I’ve shot 4 today with the 28, one last evening…4 of the 5 were close shots, DOA mostly…one ran 15 yards before Lena grabbed him. Mostly I’d say that the Red Label fits me well…had a pad put on 8 or 10 years ago at 15” from trigger. Swings nice. Got a double today while blocking a Milo plot…killed another a minute later. I’ve now shot 11 roosters with a 28, recovered them all…proves little, but I love my 28’s!!! ❤️❤️❤️ My 28’s I use for pheasants are tighter choked than my 12’s, 16’s and 20’s…..👍🍻

I want a set but cannot bring myself to take on a second mortgage :)

Is that a suburban you are driving. 👎

Sounds like you’re having an awesome season BB! Last season I hunted exclusively with my 28 and did very well. I did lose 2 birds at the end of the season, but I think that was more shooter error than lack of gusto.

Thanks to Mother Nature, basically; we had a phenomenal hatch, and now, in January, no snow and temps in the 40’s-50’sh….had some snow on the ground for a modest amount of time in the past 7 weeks, never too much. Will start the 2nd half of my 4th SD license Thursday…mom’s funeral is 1/16, we’ll see what the latter part of the month looks like at that time…have some guys from the trip a few weeks ago that want to come back. I enjoy the excitement my hunting buddies experience almost as much as my own excitement afield. The dog work is the pinnacle for me, can’t get enough of that!

What do they cost today? I bot mine in 2016, thinking $1600 or so? Can’t recall exactly. They’re top shelf!!!
I had a set quoted a couple years ago with pressurized water, Rhino lined top, 50/50 drawer width. $4500 and 18 month lead with a price adjustment possible at time of manufacture

If you get the optional water tank (I chose the 12 gallon) it can either be equipped with a 12-24vdc pump or have a Schrader valve allowing you to pressurize the tank. Very common features on most any dog truck/trailer. The pressurized setup is an easier install and a small portable battery powered compressor is all that's necessary.
