Well I made it to South Dakota last night. First day hunting will be today. Going to start south of interstate towards Platte. Was supposed to come with other people but everybody bailed out so flying solo. Going to stay in mitchell tonight but if anybody has any suggestions for me let me know. Some of you said CREPs are still really good so I’ll try those around Mitchell.

Try CREP’s around Fulton, Salem, Artesian, Letcher….

I'll bet the week after Christmas is a very busy week for South Dakota if the weather is decent?
Historically I head out there around 12/30 or 12/31…true this year as well…not very busy…possible that dates closer to Xmas can be busy, but I doubt it…some locals from bigger towns in SD may do some day trips…otherwise, pretty quiet…I checked last nite, not really any snow forecast in my area anytime soon…snow-free out there currently…

Awesome report, I hope to make it out in January for a hunt. I just told it doesn't just gets all snowed in.

I see those two that touch. That’s awesome. I think we all know there are days you go out and done quick and days you go out and can’t get a bird if your life depends on it. I just love being out here and will take either scenario. Thanks everybody for sharing things on here and more importantly the things we share back and forth on here both words of encouragement and the fun jabs. Still got three more days of hunting so just scouting around. Beats sitting in a hotel room.

If you want to stretch your legs look at the CREP just south of Artesian…lots of it…there’s a 1/4 of standing corn at 415th and 236th…CREP nearby that holds birds…a 1/2 mile or so West of there, on the north side of 236th, in the big CREP, is a reasonable sized cattail slough…on the West side of 414, south side of 236th, is a large CREP with lots of cattails….and lots of birds…hundreds and hundreds…maybe more
