Well its been a couple of days since my last hunt for this season. I just finished reviewing my notes and comparing to the previous year.
2024 Season - 20 days hunted, 30 roosters harvested, 5 birds lost.
2025 Season - 12 days hunted, 26 roosters harvested, 2 birds lost, only went home empty-handed one time.
I'd counted shells fired up until birds 19-26, where I forgot to keep track as I ended the season on a bout of poor shooting. My last day afield, I harvested 0 birds and lost the only 2. I was at 30 shells for 18 birds, and I suspect based on the empties in the door of my truck I am at roughly 50 shells for my 26.
Overall, I hunted vastly fewer days this year, but it was still an extremely rewarding season. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to hunt public land with good dogs, and explore such awesome areas.
