I got a new gun. A weatherby o/u 12 ga. and I found a great vest on clearance and Im thinking of getting a pup.But I cant decide what kind to get. anybody else looking for new gear or guns or pups for the fall season. Or is anybody planning a fun hunting trip with your buddies or family??

I got a new pup. :)
Get a few boxes of ammo.
Don't know if I need anything else.

I got a new Brittany Pup Gunne, I only got him because Tony is getting old and is really showing his age and age troubles at times. Gunne will be 9 months old (born January 5) at the start of the General Bird Season, so I hope he will help fill the voids when Tony is not able to go. I also am doing my normal off season thing. Mainly shooting a lot of trap to keep in shooting shape.......Bob

Always getting ready. I may have to be a blocker more this year but I'll get out there.

Besides, I have a new gun and pup to spend time with.

Never Stop Thinking About Hunting

I can never get hunting off my mind. This forum may be the reason. lol. I am looking to trade for a new shotgun. My dog will be four at the start of the season and he's always raring to go. The first field of opening day is always a mystery -- depends on crop rotations and the weather.

I just ordered a new pair of Irish Setter boots from Cabelas. And if I can find the right deal on a 16 ga. SxS I might add that to the gun cabinet. I don't think I need anything else so I'll spend time working with the dogs between now and the hunting season.

My latest addition is three weeks old and I will get to pick her out in a couple more weeks. This will give me a second Brittany, I have a year and a half old male Brittany that did a very good job this past season (his first). So next year will be twice the fun!

MY women bought a shotgun this year (her first). So we have been spending the time shooting and getting her ready for the fall. May sign up for a sporting clay league? I am glad she wants to hunt but I lost my picture taker  She used to go hunting with me just to take pictures. Now i quess i will be the one taking pictures.

That ain't so bad. You may enjoy taking pictures b/c it's pretty tough to miss completely.

I too am always getting "ready" for season. Spending time with the dogs and looking for shotguns that are alway more $ than I want to spend. Hopefully I can make a decision and get one bought before season. As always, I'm hoping to expand my "range" and try some new areas this year. I simply cannot wait patiently. I'm ready for the preserve to open so I can get some satisfaction.

Our big addition was the new puppy in January. Until the weather gets too hot I try to get the dogs out for a run and some work on pen raised quail. After summer really takes hold I will try to get out to shoot some skeet and sporting clays. My most important task for getting ready for this upcoming season is to lose some weight and get myself in much better shape. Last year I was hunting some thick CRP and I thought my legs were burning from the inside out. Too much time behind this desk.

Well I got a new pup in January he will be 11 months by the start of next season so hopefully we will do ok. I have been looking at some o/u but think it better to wait until next year so I can save a little more money and get a good gun no reason to settle. So for now just keep working with Chief and get him ready for the season!

planning

spending my time planning for multi state pheasant expo. thinking about, kansas, neb, colo, wyo, south dakota, and maybe texas. might just be a dreaming, but the dream is good! as far as equipment goes, im set, maybe 4 or 5 more cases of shells. :)

What...who...me...buy a new gun? It's been at least a month or so since I bought a long gun...but I did buy some new boots and never stop buying ammo when on sale. Does dog food count...:D

JMc, where are you finding ammo on sale? No one around here seems to ever have ammo on sale any lower than my winchester ammo.

Not one place in general...I'm just always looking. As a school administrator, I travel often so I stop in every gun shop, pawn shop, etc. looking for deals.

Running the dog and trying to get myself back to five miles a day as well. Having a hard time getting motivated after this winter though. Working on blind retrieves and steady is a year round thing for us and then he gets to chase after some birds. The only thing I would like to get would be a new truck but that isn't any were close to being in the budget.

Sucking up to my wife so I can spend all those points during the season.
