Health,(my own), Habitat, Upland Birds

I needed to send a message, I guess the Missouri forum forum is my home so here I am. I am 58, on March 22, 2012, I had a stroke! By the time I woke up, I was I had no feeling in my left arm, and oddly enough my right leg, and I could not speak. There is a hospital here which has a stroke trauma center, I my wife was told I would recover, eventually, the treament did some damages the stroke didn't. I was a long haul, I could'nt say a word for 7 days, when I did speak, it was in a word or two. I couldn't tell a difference if my dog was bigger than my horse!( this is real question!), As time got bye, 60 days, I was able to tell my alphabet, both verbally, and written, the leg is fine, my arm as a nagging little nerve tingling, but is strong as ever. I have spontaenous regeneration, and left handed people are fortunate, we recover better after a stroke. In short, I was scary, far exceeding how I felt with heart failure, blood stream staph infection, (that got the medical folks wild). I am lucky, I will be my argumently self some enough. I would ask your prayers for the ones I saw would never have the life they enjoyed a day the before. For those of you who though I needed "treatment", before from my posts, you have your opening! So on to pheasant/quail hunting, thankfully will be hear to see it. My habitat work is sorely lacking. I was spirited to blog about Jaytee, and the habitat improvement he has going in SW Missouri. It is high time the MDC are doing something compension to the hard work involved. I would be delighted to see these programs around the state. Finally, we might have a winnable fight yet. We have the weather this year, some should see the cold wet spring, that we are hearing about destroying of nesting seasons, the proof on the table. We need some recompensation of birds. I see we loss CRP here in my neighborhood this spring, I fear what I see all over the great plains this spring. Here it was nasty fescue monoculture. May be in time better times will come, with a better mixture.

Welcome back O&N! I wondered where the heck you'd been....none of that sounds like a great deal of fun. I hope you're well enough to get out and experience the outdoors this fall...and as FC said, many more to ya:cheers:

O & N, welcome back! I too had been wondering where you have been. I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

Great post O&N. Your moving right along my friend.

As I said the other day, you are in our prayers over here.;)

In due time (as you've said) you'll be right back to your old self again:cheers::)

O and N,

So sorry to hear of this. I hope and pray you have a full recovery. I too have wondered where you had been of late. Looking forward to your postings.

Dadgummit O&N, that really sucks!! However I'm glad that you were inspired by reading my posts about the habitat work AND the much needed compensation that came with it. Guess I'll have to post some more. What or where at in Missouri are you?

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Hopefully you are feeling better. Site is a little boring without you.

O&N, glad you are back, we missed you. The young wildlife people need to continue to hear your words of wisdom on habitat and wildlife in general.

Thank God we live in a country with communities with stroke trauma centers, clout busting medications and medical devices that quickly reverses the damaging affects of stokes. Twenty-five or thirty years ago strokes frequently left people in nursing homes.
Glad to know that you are better.

Thanks for the kindness everyone! Glad to be here! I get a lot of enjoyment from these pages, and all these viewpoints, and what's going on out there.

Glad you are back. You have been missed. This ought to perk things up around here. Take care.

Old & New,

We have missed your posts for sometime. Prayers our headed your way for a speedy recovery my friend.

What I find remarkable is your inspiration and love of the hunting sport and nature as well as UPH friendship.

Sorry to hear about the problems, but glad you are coming back from it. The older we get the more doctors, etc. we see & less hunting days it seems.

oldandnew,

I had been missing you, but know how we all get busy and don't have the time to post- that was what I was thinking, but, wow, what you have been through. I paused just now and offered a prayer for you and your recovery. I do enjoy the wisdom and insight you convey to all on the forum.

God Bless,

Good luck buddy. Sounds like you are on your way to near 100%. I have been blessed with good health tho I believe my knees are going quickly.
