My Girl Friends first rooster!

Well she never ceases to amaze me, It was her first trip and the second field we walked. I set her up on the end of the draw we were walking and told her how it should work out. We walked it down and pushed a few birds out, killing 2. Got down to the end about 30 yrds apart and he busted out of the cattails climbing fast and she dropped him like a sack of rocks. A very nice bird at that!
My father was a the end of the draw blocking with her, apparently when they first got out of the truck and stepped into the grass a rooster got up right between her legs, he said she just froze and watched him fly over the hill. :D And all she could say was "WOW!"

There was a lot of beauty in the field that day, sir.

my wife waqked in behind me when I was looking at this picture and I said boy she is pretty at time she said," I thought those birds were he not she ,and of course I had to tell her it was a slip of the tongue. Congrads to both of you, I hope you both have many great hunts together, you could save ammo and just let her carry the gun. :)

Spence, I got my girl friend started hunting last year and now she is hooked the problem is she gets pissed when I don't take her. I like to take her but not all the time I enjoy hunting with the buds. So I guess what i'm saying is be careful I had no idea she would get into it like she has. A few weeks ago she said If I didn't take her she would take one of the dogs and go by herself. I created a monster!!!

Spence,

That is cool. And that spot looks really familiar. If it is the one that I am thinking about, I hope you walked the other side of that draw and towards the west.

Yep, I know the feeling, except it was fishing with my wife. She tried to make me feel like I was cheating on her if I went by myself.

Yeah I've worried about that a little but so far its been great. I've hunted every weekend for the past couple months, ducks geese or Pheasant. And she has only tagged along twice.... She so far seems to get the whole "guy time" thing. For now anyway. ha

Don't get me wrong I'm glad she likes to go rather then bitch about me being gone all the time and not understanding the addiction thats why I took her in the first place but I had no idea she would become an addict herself. I think of bird hunting as my time to relax and get away from it all. Now if I go without her she tries the whole gilt trip thing. I don't know which is worse having a non hunting women or a hunting addict. Well I'm sending this post as I'm packing up to head up to Gove county for a three day hunt and yes she is going. I'll post when I get back how we did.

My wife was the same way, got hooked right out of the gate but once the kids hit the ground then it became not as much. Then after a couple of years life was too busy for both of us to be gone at the same time. The good news is we did knock on a lot of doors and hit a few local cafes looking for places to hunt. When people see a good looking women wanting to hunt we never got turned down. I still hunt on the same land 25 years later, and they still ask about my wife.

Congrats Spence, She may end up being the funest partner you will have to hunt with, You are a lucky man. Congrats on getting someone new involved. Looks like it was fun and thats what it is all about.

I took my wife once. 20 degrees, snowing with a 20mph north wind. She doesnt even ask anymore!!! lol

My wife came from Texas, had grown up around guns a little bit, but not to the extent my family is. Hers were mainly deer hunters and some doves thrown in. I bought her a shotgun, took her dove hunting and she did well. The first time in a pheasant field our year old pup locks up, she walks in, rooster flushes, blows it to pieces, dog runs out to retrieve it, in her excitement she chases him down and rips it from him. I had to explain to her that he was doing his job. She's since taken a couple of antelopes and a lot more doves and a few pheasants. Cold weather keeps her at home though.

The bad part about all this is I can't get anything past her. She knows what guns are worth and what ones are supposed to be in the safe. New ones can't just show up now like they used to, without some explaining....

It was 8 degrees first thing in the am, with a 15 mph wind. I think if it wouldn't have been for the fact that we were getting into birds in every field we were walking she would have called it quits.

After the first field she did say "I like my heated duck blind with the grill better!" ha Then after she killed her bird I never heard another word about the cold! I was very suprised to say the least, I tried to warn her the day before. I said babe its gonna be cold.....like really cold. Still wanted to go. Damn my luck I guess! haha

This is the best hunting tip I've seen posted all season! Nice job, Zeepo! My wife flatly refuses to go hunting, but in a few years my daughter can start tagging along. Who could say "no" to a sweet, polite kid...

WTG Spence, sounds like she's a keeper.;)
