There is snow on the ground and the upland seasons are over, so it is just stories for awhile. Don't want to hijack T_Man's thread with food and trivia, so for your winter reading-----

563 frozen dove in his car, earned this man his nickname, "Doves".

Joey Dove must have gone through a couple boxes of shells to get that many doves. Nice story about a fellow conservationist, thanks for sharing Mr. Byrd.

I understand he would trade cases of shotgun shells for dove for the local shooters.

Dove ended up at the Towne Hotel/Restaurant in Cicero, Illinois.

He had a lot more in Palluca's freezer ! Said they were crows. By the way it was June,July and August. Chauffer and Cadillac Eldorado up and down the county roads, not something you wouldn't remember!

They might not have been doves but I am positive they weren't crows. Interesting is that Joey served his sentence in a Kansas county jail, I don't think it was Crawford, but I can't remember where, with TV and the status of a celebrity mob underboss. Can't figure out why he didn't get a stretch in the Federal system?

story has it(my oldest brother was a shooter)he had guys walking around from shooter to shooter handing out boxes of shells. As each guy got close to his limit, they would take birds from them,so they couldn't limit out.
I never thought that it was ethically right, but it would of been can of neat shooting birds for one of the big time mafia dons at the time.if I remember right.they paid one dollar per bird also.story also has it that there was a hell lot more birds shot then 562.My brother told me that he shot over 100
