R.I.P. Elle

This morning we put down our beloved Elle. She finally succumbed to a spinal tumor at age 8. This has left a huge hole in our hearts and our home. There will never be another one like her. She turned out to be more dog than I could have ever asked for and gave me 8 great years to share with her. She was just a big lover around the house. Most loving dog I have ever had. She also was a tremendous pheasant dog. Best I've ever had. And then to top it off, with no formal training by me or anyone else she excelled in NSTRA field trials and became a NSTRA Champion this past spring. I was truly blessed to have such a dog in my life.

Sorry for your loss. She was too young.

I lost my first female britt from cancer when she was 6. Horrible to see her deteriorate every day. My dog of a lifetime.

I wish there were words that could ease your family's pain, but the truth is there just isn't. Why the good Lord takes our loved friends so early is something I'll ask when I get there, it just doesn't seem fair. My prayers are with you guys!

Very sad. Such a pretty dog. But don't delay in getting another; it's the best medicine for the gone dog blues. There's a Brittany out there who deserves a great home and life like you gave Elle. Don't let that dog down!

Sorry to hear this Zeb. Eight is much too young for a bird dog and friend.

Brittanys are great all around dogs. They are truly a compassionate and loving breed, yet driven when in the field. Outside of my children, my Britts are my favorite hunting partners.

I guess I have a difficult time comparing Britts to other breeds since it is the only breed of hunting dog that I have owned (35 years now) and lived with.

Each loss (there have only been three so far) has become progressively tougher for me even though I typically own more than one at a time.

Mourn the loss and when ready go get another ... I have yet to completely figure out why God has bird dogs living only a fraction of their owner's life time.

George,
I'm sorry for your loss. Give thanks this week to have spent the time you had with Elle.

So sorry George, you were blessed to have her and she to have you.

I KNOW IT IS HARD, but you were so lucky to have been her master and friend and I consider that I was blessed to have shared a pheasant field with her.

RIP girl RIP.

Jim

I am so sorry for your loss. You have said it best. Godspeed.

DZ, I am SOOOO sorry to hear this. May she rest in peace.

George,

Elle was a sweet dog, I'm glad I was able to meet her even if for a brief moment. You guys are in our thoughts.

So sorry George. I know far too well about that hole. Too young. Glad I got to hunt with her. I wish you had gotten to see River. I lost her at 7, and also just after she became a field champion. Her last run was an Open win. Tears will fall for some time and nothing anyone can say or do will help. Only time. And also time with another 4 legged friend. I hope you find another pup that can have many wonderful times in the field with you. Sorry again about the news. Take care, Ken
