Gas prices….

Seeing prices below $2.45 consistently, even lower…some places in MN below $2.20. Lowest I recall paying was .99 cents as I drove to NE to turkey hunt in ‘99 or ‘00…the day Columbine happened. Anyway, today’s prices are close adjusted for inflation. I burn more gas than shotgun shells or eggs or milk…pretty sweet! We put on north of 45,000 miles annually…my wife is 5k of those…I burn 2000 gallons annually myself, +\-…a bit more…mostly from 9/1-1/31….think all hunting season it’s been under $3. Based on averages over the past 15 years, gas could be $4-5 and be in line with the CPI overall, assuming 2.5% inflation. Pretty sweet! I used to be able to prepay gas at a farm elevator in SD and a gas station in St Cloud, MN…wish I still could! I’d buy a decent amount right now, and keep buying if it trends lower. In the meantime, good time for road trips!

Drove through Oklahoma City yesterday on I-35. Middle of town lots of $1.99 stations (regular gas with ethanol). From south end around Moore to north end around Edmond the highest I saw was $2.19, lots in between.

I’d say “blame T—-p” but that would be too political for the bbs, so I won’t.

😂

Honestly I never even look at the price when I pull in and I never look at what I spend after gassing up. It is totally out of my control. If it is $1 per gallon or $5 per gallon it has no effect on what I do.

I paid $2.03 yesterday on I76 just N of Brighton Colorado, a few miles down the road it was $2.68. Still cheaper than it's been for years.

True for us all. But $1 is better than $5 anytime
I watch people throw away money on bad habits, vehicles, cell phones, addictions, and coffee and never give it a second thought and then worry about the price of gas they can't control. The price of gas doesn't bother me but the price of auto insurance does. I use gas daily but insurance I very seldom do and when I do use it the price goes up.

I think Montana sure isn’t getting any of the low gas prices love. I just looked it up and nation wide one year ago average was 3.041 and now 2.854 so -18.7 nationwide.

Montana a year ago was $2.785 and now it is 2.839 so +5.4 cents. We are only one and a half cents below the national average. We use to more than that. Is it all the rich rubes like Nick Faldo driving our prices up on everything, not just real estate. 😀

I had to drive over to north-central Iowa yesterday for work. Filled up on the drive back, don't remember exactly where but gas was $2.04.
Was pretty surprised because that's about 40 cents or so below what I've been paying here in southeast SD.

Gas is probably one of my top 7 expenses annually, I enjoy that the price is down, regardless of whether I can control it. I can’t control my health insurance, auto/property insurance, property taxes, other utilities, etc…I enjoy any price drops! Nice that it’s happening now, as well…driving a lot in my least economical vehicle…

Why can't you control your insurance, property taxes, or utility bills?

Well, maybe not "control" but you can certainly go about reducing them in a specific manner, just like looking for cheaper priced gas.

Obviously, and I do…just responding to someone else’s reply…bottom line, I’m pleased with where gas prices are…I’ve paid close to $5/gallon in the last…prefer these prices….that’s all. Yes, I could move in order to lower my property taxes…didn’t mean to create a highly philosophical or intellectual discussion…I like beer…and boobies…and roosters…and $2/gas…pretty simple…and regardless if I can control my expenses, I know what I spend…

You can formally lobby against your proposed property taxes. I think you live in MN. There is a time/date in which to do it. Most assessors simply do a blanket assessment based on the neighborhood; they do not look at individual homes. I personally know individuals who have complained and gotten it lowered in the past.

Just be aware that they may request to look inside your residence too which might back fire if you've done any recent upgrades.

I switched auto/home/umbrella a year before I retired, saved a few grand annually…that was good. ‘26 property taxes are increasing a grand, and health insurance increasing $600/month, over 7 grand. Cheaper gas, or anything, is good!

Again, just I expressed my pleasure at lower gas prices, I’m aware of one’s prerogative to request an audit of property taxes…I know roughly what comps are paying…didn’t want to turn it into any big thing…I like boobies, should have left it at that! 😋
